This week on the podcast is a short meditation aimed at finding a small moment in the day to pause and check in with yourself, the breath and the body. A moment for when you are feeling overwhelmed, too busy, maybe anxious or just want to take a few minutes to break up the day and collect your thoughts. During this guided practice you will move through a few quick exercises to centre yourself and slow down.This is something I do regularly and find to be very helpful.

On this episode of the podcast we turn our focus to a specific element and that is fire, or heat. We move through three different ways in which you can utilize this element for a meditation practice. Those being the breath, with the use of props and through visualization. The element of fire is also known as one of cleansing and so in this guided meditation we build heat in the body and at the same time look to cleanse ourselves of stress and unwanted feelings.

A Music Bath

For this episode of the podcast I am returning to one of my favourite styles and that is sound. This is the third instalment in my series of sound based guided meditations. The focus for these being the music and using it as your point of concentration for the duration of the practice. There is a small amount of speaking and guided practice in the beginning but after that I leave you to sit for however long you choose. The music will eventually fade and end. Hazrat Inayat Khan once said, “Sound is the force of creation, the true whole. Music then, becomes the voice of the great cosmic oneness and therefore an optimal way to reach a true state of healing.”

On this episode of the podcast I have for you a new repetition style meditation revolving around the idea of a single word. This one word could represent something that you wish to be, a feeling you wish to embody, something you want to obtain, anything of that nature but the goal of this guided meditation is to manifest something from this word. Words have great power, and the more we align ourselves with positive words and ways of thinking the less hold negative words and ways of thinking have over us.

A Slow Breath Meditation

For this episode of the podcast I wanted to do something simple and shorter than the past few months, while also approaching the breath meditation in a new way. I listened to a podcast recently with zen master Roshi Norma Wong where she spoke about her meditation practice. She focuses on slowing down the breath to under two breaths per minute during her practice. On top of that she aims at having her breath rate at under five breaths per minute for one third of her waking hours. This conscious act is a step towards oneness. Through a consistent focus on slowing down your breath throughout your day, over time you may notice subtle changes in your connection and experience of life.

This weeks episode is about finding connections between the human experience and the natural world. In yoga there are five winds of the body. They govern different areas and different physical and subtle activities. The natural phenomenon of the wind is associated with a whole host of different things. In this guided meditation I aim to tie the two together. I am trying to push the creativity of these meditation so I hope you enjoy the final product.

Not only do I have a brand new japa style meditation for everyone today but it’s also the one year anniversary of Into Stillness! 54 episodes to date and over 5000 downloads in 65+ countries. I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out when I started it —during a pandemic mind you— but its turned into my favourite creation. Recently I expanded the Into Stillness idea into a workshop and began doing the meditations I write for the podcast live on Sunday mornings. Looking forward to what another year brings. I also want to say thank you to everyone who has listened, I truly appreciate all the support!!
Todays episode is based around the mantra “Om Tat Sat”. Om Tat Sat is a Sanskrit mantra found in the Bhagavad Gita. Each of the three sounds is a symbolic representation of God. Om is the sound of Brahman or the ultimate reality. Tat is the mantra of Shiva. Sat is the mantra of Vishnu, which can also be interpreted as truth. The repetition of this mantra encourages the mind to enter into a meditative state so that the practitioner may begin to connect with the higher Self or the Divine within.

This weeks episode is a meditation for self forgiveness. As Alexander Pope said, “to err is human, to forgive, divine”. Forgiveness is often a difficult journey to embrace but know that forgiveness is not a weakness. Forgiveness in positive psychology is most often viewed as a character strength and a virtue worth pursuing for everyone who desires a greater sense of wellbeing. Forgiveness of ourselves and others leads to increased feelings of self worth and decreased psychological stress. This allows you to live a more satisfied and fulfilling life because you are moving beyond the negative feelings that hold you down and control your thinking and behaviour.
